The other day, I felt I was running out of steam and needed something that would give me an energy boost. A coffee banana milkshake gives the taste and richness similar to that of an Italian dessert called Tiramisu, which means “pick me up” but without all the fat. I added a shot of espresso to my milkshake to give me that caffeine boost I needed. Don’t worry if you don’t have an espresso machine or pot, you can substitute the espresso with 3 to 4 tablespoons of instant coffee.
This milkshake can be a morning favorite, because it takes only minutes to make which saves precious time in the kitchen. This drink gives me my fruit, my coffee and my calcium all at the same time. I love milkshakes all year round, especially when it’s hot outside. They can be refreshing and filling at the same time.
I garnished my milkshake with a sprinkle of cocoa on top – like the dessert, but you can add whipped cream, chocolate syrup or chocolate shavings if you like. Have a great day everyone!
Coffee Banana Milkshake – Tiramisu !
- 1 cup of low-fat or skim milk
- 1 shot of espresso coffee
- 1 cup frozen vanilla yogurt or ice cream
- 2 frozen bananas -sliced
- cocoa to garnish
Pour the milk into a blender, then add the frozen bananas, frozen yogurt and the coffee.
Blend until well combined. Pour into glasses and garnish on top with some cocoa. And serve.
