You are right, the ingredients for this salad are available all year but this is one salad that says “summer” to me. Especially if you are lucky enough to get just picked small cucumbers fresh from a garden.

My mother always made a similar salad using celery seed instead of dill. Something I grew up loving and still make to this day. I'll have to try dill next time I make it.

My mom always make a cucumber and onion salad that we would keep in the frig. The longer is lasted the better it tasted. A wonderful combination. I'm going to grow cukes again this summer just for salads like this!
