Easy Avocado Dip

 

Easy Avocado Dip. This light and delicious avocado dip is made easily with mashed avocado, lemon juice, onion and cayenne pepper.  Serve with a fresh platter of cut vegetables on the side for dipping, makes this easy avocado dip healthier and better to serve as a snack, or as an appetizer before dinner!

Making a healhy dip  for my family as an appetizer is always on my mind.  And we always have avocados on hand. So making this quick and easy avocado dip was a no brainer!  I guess you could call this dip guacamole, but I prefer not to since it’s missing the tomatoes, cilantro and black olives.

Creamy smooth and flavorful, this avocado dip contains the healthy fat you won’t mind serving your family.  Loaded with nutrients, high in vitamins and minerals, eating just one avocade contains only 250 calories.  A win-win!

I love serving my family with a fresh platter of crudites next to this avocado dip, because is it healthier, gluten free and vegan.

Having company? Cut some your favorite vegetables into sticks and there’s something for everyone!

Did you know the avocado is actually a fruit ?  You might be inclined to call it a vegetable as my sister does, simply because of its green color and savory flavor.  But it is technically a fruit.  Yep – I was confused myself.

Easy Avocado Dip

  • 3 medium Avocados
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 small shallot or red onion- minced
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
  •  Assortment of mix vegetables – chopped

Cut each avocado in half. Scoop out the flesh.
Discard the large pit.
In a medium bowl, mash the avocado flesh with a fork.
Add the lemon juice, salt, cayenne pepper and onion.
Mix until well combined.
Serve with chopped vegetables on the side.
Optional: serve with some sour cream on the side.
