Grilled Cheese and Pear Sandwich

This Grilled Cheese and Pear Sandwich offers savory and sweet flavors that will exceed anyone’s expectations. A mouthwatering sandwich, made with only 4 ingredients, will surely become a favorite!

This Grilled Cheese and Pear Sandwich…

A few weeks ago, we posted our grilled cheese & apple sandwich. It too is a combination of savory flavors, and all in one bite. But this one is different. It is an exquisite, mouthwatering sandwich, to say the least.

When you pair blue cheese with subtle sweet-tart pear, and some fresh arugula to give it some peppery flavor, the flavors will absolutely explode in your mouth!

Some time ago I posted one of our Friday night pizza, called the Pear and Roquefort Pizza.  It’s basically made with the same ingredients, fresh pears, blue cheese, and fresh arugula. FYI: the pizza always turns out amazing!

So, I thought of pairing the same three ingredients together in a sandwich, and to my surprise, the outcome was fantastic!

How to make this Grilled Cheese and Pear Sandwich?

There are 4 main ingredients (not including the sliced bread) to making this grilled cheese outstanding from all the rest:

  • a pear
  • blue cheese
  • fresh arugula
  • Dijon mustard

What is Blue cheese?

Blue cheese or bleu cheese is cheese made with cultures of the mold, which gives its blue spots or veins.  And it has a distinct smell, that is caused by various cultivated bacteria.

Blue cheese is known to be a very sharp, salty cheese but when it melts it becomes creamy, smooth, and even mild tasting.  It’s amazingly flavorful.

What kind of pears should we use?

Sweet pears like Bosc and Bartlett pears will work perfectly.  Besides, the benefits of eating pears are HUGE!

Pears help fight fatigue, plus they’re loaded with fiber, vitamins, and potassium just to name a few.  You can learn more about the benefits of eating pears in this article: Benefits of Eating Pears.

Why use arugula?

Arugula is like spinach. It is a nutrient-rich green, and a cancer-fighting “superfood.”  Plus, it is loaded with calcium, potassium, and vitamins B, C, and K.  It is an ideal green to keep in our refrigerator to add to salads and sandwiches. And because – it is OUSTANDING in this sandwich!

Your family and friends will LOVE this Grilled Cheese and Pear Sandwich.

SO AMAZING!  It’s even addicting.

You’ll wonder why you haven’t tried it before.

Serve this grilled sandwich for lunch or as a light dinner, and maybe even pair it with a bowl of soup next to it.  Try it with our spicy carrot soup, and even with our cream of broccoli soup -without the cream, they’re both delicious tasting soups!

ENJOY!!
