Jump-Start Detox Drink with Apple, Blueberry and Pomegranate. A simple detox drink made with fresh fruit, apples, fresh blueberries and pomegranate seeds blended with bottled water, not only jump-starts your day, but also leaves you feeling cleansed and energetic all morning!
After each holiday we know for sure, it’s a good idea to eat light for a day or two.
And, what else ? Juicing and Smoothies are a great way to do it!
As we all know, we usually eat and drink too much over each holiday and then spend the next 3 days, and even 4 months after the Christmas holiday trying to lose those extra pounds gained to be in shape and ready for Spring.
And, over the years, we have literally tried many diets, to say the least, and sometimes they worked for only short periods of time, but never really helped keep the weight off.
So we decided to try something different. A few years ago I bought a juicer by Cuisinart and I bought one for my sister Liz (she requested a different brand). Basically, all juicers and blenders transform fresh fruits and vegetables into nutrient-rich juicers in countless flavor combinations. Making them delicious while at the same time help heal our bodies from all toxins.
In fact, there are documentaries showing how people have turned their health around while on a cleansing juice fast.
After reading health magazines, books and interesting articles about detoxing your body and how to jump-start it with juicing, gave us enough reasons to give it a try!
We’re not on a cleansing juice fast or anything, that’s too dramatic for us. We’re juicing daily to optimize our well-being, as well as rejuvenation and maybe even repair some of our DNA.
There are many different juicers on the market, I like the Cuisinart Juicer. I find it to be relatively easy to clean on a daily basis. You have to find the one that best suits you. If the thought of cleaning each time prevents you from using it, you’ll never juice!
My sister Liz returned hers (the Jack Lalanne’s Power Juicer she wanted) after one day of juicing, simply because it was too complicated to clean and to store it some where under the counter.
So we used her Vitamix blender to make this jump-start detox smoothie. It’s a little pricey, but well worth it.
The first jump-start detox drink we made contains only 3 simple ingredients, one apple, 1/4 cup of blueberries and some fresh pomegranate seeds. Very easy!
A delicious and healthy drink that is full of antioxidants, vitamins, high in fiber, and liquefied for easy digestion to help promote good health. I highly recommend it!
- ½ cup fresh blueberries- rinsed
- 1 red apple- cored, sliced
- ¼ of a pomegranate- seeds only
- 8 ounce bottled water
- handful of ice cubes
- Add all the ingredients to the juicer or blender. Puree for about 2 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
- Serves: 1
