Well here is a simple recipe that doesn’t require a grill at all. And, it’s a method that makes this a NO fuss, NO mess and a quick clean up when making baby back ribs barbecue-style!
Over the years, one thing we learned about cooking with pork ribs is the need to boil them first. It’s a clever way to eliminate and remove most of the fat and grease from the ribs, and at the same time, it helps to cut the cooking time in half.
Once you boil the fat off the pork, leaving the ribs to be lean and tender, all that is left to do is to rub on your favorite BBQ sauce, and into the oven they go!
Everyone has a favorite barbecue sauce. And we do too! We love to roast these ribs with a hickory, spiced barbecue sauce on them (called Bull’s Eye, KCS). It has a rich smoky flavor with a sweet taste of the sticky molasses everyone loves. It so happens to be our favorite, and the sauce is SO GOOD, the ribs become finger-licking delicious!
Serve them with your favorite salad as a side, and this meal could be added to your list of making dinners for a family of 4 for under $20.00. Baby back ribs are also very inexpensive to buy, they cost about ten dollars per package (yields 14 to 16 ribs) and they cost even less if you find them on sale.
Succulent Oven Roasted Baby Back Ribs
- 2 pounds Pork Baby Back Ribs (about 14 to 16 ribs)
- sea salt
- fresh ground black pepper
- 8 Tbsp. BBQ Sauce ( we used Bulls-Eye, Kansas City Style)
- cooking oil spray
In a large sauce pot, filled with water half way.
Add the ribs into water. Cover and bring to boil.
Boil ribs for 25 to 35 minutes. Remove ribs, and drain.
Discard the greasy water.
Generously spray baking dish with cooking oil.
For easier clean up, line baking sheet with foil wrap.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Remove ribs from water and transfer ribs to baking sheet.
Using the back of a spoon, rub barbecue sauce over entire surface.
Sprinkle some salt and fresh ground pepper.
Bake, uncovered for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven, carefully placing hot baking dish on a safe surface, and flip over the ribs. Rub some more barbecue sauce over them.
Place them back into the oven.
Bake for additional 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and cut them into pieces.
