Salsa has gained momentum over the years. In fact, it’s become the most popular condiment and appetizer these days.ย

Note and Tips:

  • For this salsa recipe, we decided to give it a little heat by adding in some chopped jalapeno.
  • Plus, this is a recipe you can easily adjust the amount of heat to your liking, just by adjusting the number of jalapenos you add into the mix.
  • Spicy salsa is made with all the fresh ingredients you would expect.  Chopped tomatoes, garlic, onion, fresh cilantro, jalapeno, and lime juice are all combined in one bowl and then chilled before serving with your favorite chips.
  • Fresh salsa also stays fresh for days in the fridge.

What you will need:

  • fresh ripe small tomatoes on the vine
  • fresh cilantro
  • garlic cloves
  • jalapeno
  • onion
  • lime
  • tortilla corn chips, for serving

How to Make it? (*full recipe card below!)

Our simple and easy spicy salsa has only 6 ingredients and needs only a few minutes of your time to chop the vegetables.  Then serve!  It is that simple and easy!  There’s no need to run out and buy the jar.

No need to add any salt or sugar (at least I didn’t need any), the sweetness from the juicy tomatoes along with the juice from the lime combined with fresh cilantro gives this salsa a lot of flavors.

Homemade salsa always tastes better when you make it yourself; it’s fresh-tasting, very light and makes a healthy snack for the whole family to enjoy!

Make it your own…

  • You can make a variety of different flavored salsas.  They don’t always have to be tomato-based.  You can make your own variations using chopped veggies.
  • Try adding in some fresh chopped mangos, green peppers, and even avocados into the mix.  Just serve this simple and easy spicy salsa with your favorite tortilla chips.
