Tips to Freeze Cheesecakes

  • Allow the Cheesecake to Set: First, the cheesecake has to be completely firm and set in the refrigerator before freezing.
  • Do Not Add any Toppings: No need to add any toppings before freezing. Save all toppings for that recipe for when you are ready to thaw and serve.
  • Wrap it Well: Wrap the entire cheesecake in a couple of layers of plastic wrap, followed by a layer of aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn.
  • Freeze: Place it in the freezer. You can also put the wrapped cheesecake in a large freezer bag for extra protection.

Tips to Thaw Frozen Cheesecakes

  • Thaw in the Refrigerator: The best way to thaw a frozen cheesecake is to transfer the cheesecake from the freezer to the refrigerator and let it thaw overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.
  • Add Toppings After Thawing:  Then you can add fresh fruit or other toppings after the cheesecake has thawed, according to the recipe.
  • Enjoy it, Frozen: Some of us enjoy a no-bake cheesecake with an ice cream-like consistency. So if you prefer that, try letting it thaw in the refrigerator for about an hour to achieve this texture and consistency.
