Flavorful Quiches for Any Meal

We love to whip up a quiche now and then, and especially on the weekends when you just want something simple and easy. And, we usually make them loaded with veggies, like our Spinach and Parmesan Quiche, and Crustless Broccoli Cheese Quiche.

But this one is different! This quiche happens to have the delicious “Italian flavor” of Genoa salami … we happen to adore!

We love salami on our charcuterie boards, so why not add some to a quiche? And that’s the reason we love the flavor in this one.

Besides, the flavor of the cheeses, along with the cream, adds a very delicate and fluffy texture to this quiche. It’s light and crispy on the outside, and it practically melts in your mouth with every forkful. YUM…

Best of all, you don’t have to pre-bake the crust. (We love that!)

Plus, quiches are ideal, especially if you’re hosting a holiday lunch, brunch, or attending a potluck dinner. If you love quiches and ones loaded with vegetables, be sure to try our Mushroom and Sundried Quiche, and Spinach and Kale Quiche. They are delicious, too.

How to Make Quiche with Salami & Gruyere Cheese?

Here we will discuss the 5 easy-to-follow steps to making this delicious quiche. And, remember that our full printable recipe card with exact measurements and instructions is located at the bottom.

1. First, preheat your oven to Convection Bake at 350 degrees F. Then rearrange your racks in the oven, so one is in the middle. Quickly and lightly spray the bottom of the baking dish with cooking oil.

2. Next, open one package of (mostly thawed) puff pastry sheet, and gently unroll it, and lay it directly over the baking dish, with all four corners open outward on the counter.

QUICK NOTE: Do the best to lay the puff pastry sheet over the pie dish. And, it doesn’t have to be perfect.

3. Next, whisk in ONE mixing bowl: the eggs, cream, seasonings, and cheeses. Reserve only 7 slices of salami for the top. Then chop the remaining 4 slices into small pieces, and whisk in the chopped salami with the mixture.

4. Slowly pour in the quiche mixture into the pie dish over the puff pastry sheet. Top with the seven slices of the salami (in a circular design). Then fold over the four corners of the pastry sheet.

The mixture is poured into the pastry sheet in the pie dish and topped with thin slices of salami.

COOK’s NOTE! And, as you can see below, my 4 corners that folded over didn’t go exactly the way I wanted them to go. Nevertheless, it will bake nicely all the same.

5. Bake the quiche for 45 to 55 minutes, until the top and all sides are golden brown. Then remove from the oven, and allow the quiche to sit and rest for a few minutes before serving. Then slice and serve.

QUICK NOTE: The quiche will inflate like a soufflé, but then it will flatten as it cools.

Storing and Freezing

  • You can store any leftovers in a sealed container (or wrap them with clear wrap) and place them in your refrigerator. It will stay fresh for up to 3 days.
  • Quiches freeze beautifully and for up to 1 month. Any longer, you may want to make a fresh one.
  • Keep in mind, quiches can be frozen before baking for the best results. Freezing a baked quiche may lead to a soggy crust or overcooked filling upon reheating, and you won’t be happy with the result.

  • 3 whole eggs
  • 1 + 1/4 cups of heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1.5 cups mixture of shredded Gruyere & Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • 4 sliced of Genoa salami - chopped
  • 7 slices of Genoa salami - to lay them on top before baking
  • olive oil cooking spray

Instructions

  1. First, remove one frozen pastry sheet from the box, and leave it on your counter to thaw, about 15 minutes or more.
  2. Then, PREHEAT your oven to Bake (Convection Bake) at 350 degrees F (175C). Arrange the racks in your oven so one is in the middle.
  3. In ONE mixing bowl, add the eggs, heavy cream, the mixture of Gruyere and Swiss shredded cheeses. Add the grated parmesan cheese, plus the seasonings. Whisk until well combined.
  4. Toss in the chopped salami and whisk again.
  5. Grab your 9-inch glass or ceramic pie dish and lightly spray it with cooking olive oil spray, then place it on the counter nearby.
  6. Carefully open the pastry sheet. If it's not entirely thawed - no worries, it will work just fine. Lay the pastry sheet over the baking pie dish. Press lightly down to fit it into the dish, leaving the corners out and over the sides.
  7. Next, slowly pour the creamy cheese mixture into the crust. Top with the remaining 7 slices of salami to cover the mixture. Then take each corner of the pastry sheet and gently fold it over, laying them on top. Do not press down.
  8. Place the baking dish on the middle rack of the oven.
  9. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or longer, until the crust on top puffs up high like a soufflé and is golden brown on top.
  10. Remove and allow it to rest and cool down for at least 15 minutes or more. Then slice and serve.
