Italian -Style Tuna Salad in a Wrap- Lightened! A refreshing twist on the traditional tuna salad, only it’s lightened and Italian-style! Tuna salad is our mom’s recipe and it’s light, delicious, with a subtle crunch and a citrus punch to it. Not weighted down with a lot of mayonnaise.
This is not your ordinary tuna salad your mom made for you as a kid. Our mom made her tuna salad different and one she has been making for years, using fresh vegetables, fresh lemon juice and a touch of mayonnaise. A healthier tuna salad, making it lower in calories and lower in fat!
It’s even terrific served with your favorite sliced bread, or serve it as we did here in a wrap! We used a Multi-Grain Flour Tortillas to wrap tuna salad and sliced each one in half.
These multi-grain flour tortillas are terrific! They contain 4 grams of whole grain per serving, 0 grams of trans-fat and additional 4 grams of protein. A great way to get some whole grains with your meal.
Italian-Style Tuna Salad is colorful, refreshing and perfect for those days when you’re not in the mood to cook anything or just want to make something easy.
Italian Style Tuna Salad in a Wrap- Lightened!
- 2 cans Solid White Tuna (packed in Water) , drained
- 1 carrot – minced
- 1 celery stalk – minced
- 1/2 cup red onion – minced
- 2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
- 1 lemon- juiced
- 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
- 4 Multi-Grain Flour Tortillas (soft taco, medium size)
In a medium size bowl, mix tuna with minced vegetables, lemon juice, mayonnaise and pepper. Cover with clear wrap and chill up to one hour before serving.
Spoon about 2 to 3 tablespoons of tuna salad and place onto a multi-grain flour tortilla.
Gently pick up one side and begin to roll and tuck to fold each end. Cut in the center and serve.
Repeat with each Multi-Grain Flour Tortillas. Add some chopped lettuce and tomatoes on the side, and serve.
