Tell Us About This Limoncello Spritz
Like most spritzers, a Limoncello Spritz includes prosecco, some club soda or sparkling water, ice cubes, and limoncello. We always add a splash of fresh lemon juice and a mint, along with a slice of lemon or two to each glass as a pretty garnish and color. It works well all summer long and before a meal.
And, if you love spritzers, then don’t miss our most popular one, the Aperol Spritz, and The Hugo. Both are just as popular as the Limoncello Spritz.
What is Limoncello?
Limoncello is an Italian liqueur, originating from the Amalfi coast, and it is usually served as an apperitivo (before a meal), and at times, after a meal to aid in digestion. It is always served chilled and in small cordial glasses. And, it is meant to sip it slowly.
And, we like to keep our bottle of limoncello in the freezer all year long. Our families in Italy prefer to make their own. If you are interested in making homemade Limoncello, try our mom’s recipe for her Best Homemade Limoncello.
Tips for Success:
Here are a few things you should know before you start. When making this Limoncello Spritz:
- Get yourself a cocktail measuring jigger. This will help you measure the amount of each ingredient more precisely.
- Next, have all your main ingredients chilled before starting. Then place them on your counter.
- Fill each glass (or as many glasses as you plan to make) with plenty of ice. Then measure the amounts of sparkling water, limoncello, and prosecco needed. And add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and give it a quick stir, add your garnishes, and serve!
- For a pretty presentation, tall wine glasses, are preferred, but you can use any large cocktail glass of your choice.
How to Make Our Limoncello Spritz?
If this is your first time making a Limoncello Spritz, no worries, it is relatively easy. First, chill your prosecco, a few lemons, sparkling water, and a bottle of limoncello before you begin. Then let’s gather all the ingredients before you start.

Overview: Ingredients For This Spritz
- Limoncello: is an Italian lemon liqueur produced in southern Italy, and it is usually kept in the freezer.
- Prosecco: is an Italian sparkling wine that is refreshing and comes from the village of Prosecco, Italy. And it must be chilled before making this lemon spritz.
- Sparkling Soda or Water: Any bottle of sparkling water or soda can be used to make this lemon spritz. We used a lemon-flavored sparkling soda, already chilled.
- Lemons: Fresh lemons are needed to add some fresh lemon juice, plus a few slices to garnish the glass.
- Ice Cubes: Always fill each glass with some ice cubes before adding the rest of the ingredients. This way, your refreshing cocktail is already chilled to a perfect temperature.
- Mint: A sprig of fresh mint is lovely when added to each glass, for color and as a garnish.
