No tomato sauce on this pizza…
This is a pita pizza that requires no tomato sauce! It is so delicious and so different, no one will mind. The fresh herbs like sage gives this pizza an incredible aromatic flavor, while the melted ricotta cheese offers the creaminess on top of a crunchy, crispy crust.
And it’s literally so good – it’s outstanding!
Making pita pizza is fun and exciting for the whole family. It’s a perfect size for one person, and you can jazz it up with any healthy toppings of your choice!
Making Pita Pizza is Fun…
It’s Friday, and we love having a ‘pizza night’ with friends and family.ย ย If the weather permits, we enjoy entertaining and dining in the alfresco!ย It’s fast and easy, with only 5 minutes to prepare and minimal baking time.
Perfect for busy ladies like us! Of course, thisย is Liz’s Pita Pizza creation when a few years ago she had to improvise for a last-minuteย dinner party. How clever!
Some great tips:
- You can bake pita’s in the oven or give them a smoky flavor by grilling them outside on the barbecue.
- For mushroom lovers, try swapping the white buttons for some portabellas, creminis, or even shiitakes!ย ย
- Keep a package of pita’s in your fridge, so you can make these any day of the week.
Ingredients Needed… (*full recipe card below!)
- 2 Plain or Whole Grain Pita Breads (the Pocket-Less Pitas,1 per serving)
- Extra-virgin olive oil
- Ricotta cheese
- Fresh sage leaves
- White button mushrooms
- Fresh mozzarella
- Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
- salt & fresh ground pepper
Reason’s to make this pizza…
- What I LOVE most about these pita pizza’s, is that I can make as many pizzas as I need, which is the fun part!
- ย These pita pizzas go great with a side salad and some fun cocktails to go with it, making this a light dinner.
- So much fun to make. Easy enough for kids to make them.
- Try empowering your kids and let them have fun making their own pita pizza night! Give them healthyย topping choices to choose from, they will be ecstatic!
Also, try Liz’s other Pita Pizza creation as well! My daughters make this pita pizza’s often!! So I make sure I keep my Pita’s well-stocked!
ENJOY!!

Anna and Liz, I LOVE white pizza! And how you made these so much easier to prepare with the use of pita bread is genius! I've used naan bread too, but it isn't as easy to find as pita bread! Thanks for the tip! Pizza parties are all the rage in my family and I'll have to try this recipe and also recommend it to my family too!

Pita pizzas! What a great idea girls! Everyone can have their own pizza party with these or even make up two pizzas! I have to remember that next time. I usually use naan bread when making a lunch time pizza, but will try pita bread next! ๐ xoxo, Jackie
