Directions To Make Skillet Salmon with Chili Sauce?
There are 4-Easy-To-Follow Steps to make this easy seafood dinner in one skillet!
- First, rinse your salmon steaks. Then pat them dry with a paper towel. Season your salmon steaks with a generous amount of garlic powder. Scatter over them with sea salt, dried thyme, dried herbs de Provence, and cayenne pepper.
- Next, drizzle the olive oil in to a 10-inch skillet, and heat it on moderate heat. When olive oil is hot, place the salmon steaks top facing down. Pan-sear the salmon for a few minutes to give their tops their golden brown color, about 3 to 4 minutes. Then flip them over.
- Make the chili sauce. Pour in the wine, and simmer for one minute. Add in the rest of the ingredients and simmer until the chili sauce thickens. Turn off the heat.
- Meanwhile, cook the rice. When the rice is ready, transfer the rice to a serving platter. Serve the salmon over the rice (see my notes below).
How To Cook the Rice?
- Meantime, bring 2 + 1/2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepot. Toss in 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of butter. Slowly pour in 1 + 1/4 cups of rice.
- Cover with a lid, and lower the heat to simmer. Rice will cook when all the water has been completely evaporated, about 15 to 20 minutes. Uncover and stir the rice with a fork, to flake the rice. Remove from heat.
How To Serve It?
When the rice is done, transfer the rice onto a serving platter. Serve the salmon over the bed of cooked rice. Spoon the remaining sweet chili sauce over the salmon steaks. Then scatter on top with sliced green onions and serve immediately with extra sauce on the side.
Notes and Tips for Success…
- When purchasing salmon, it’s a good idea to can ask the fishmonger to remove the skin from each piece.
- If you prefer your salmon medium or medium-rare, keep an eye on them while pan-searing. Also, if necessary, you can remove the salmon and transfer them to a nearby plate. Then make the sauce in the same skillet, return the salmon to the skillet to simmer with the sauce for about 1 minute. Then serve.
- What kind of rice? I prefer to use Jasmine white rice with this recipe. It cooks easily and it’s a very lightweight rice and goes perfectly with this salmon recipe.
Options for additional flavoring…
- use some grated fresh ginger, to give it more punch of flavor.
- toss some sesame seeds on top to add additional garnish, flavor, and texture.
