How to Make Steak Piccata? (Step-by-Step)
First, gather all the ingredients on the counter. For 2 filet mignon steaks, grab a 9- or 10-inch skillet and place it on the stovetop. This will bring the recipe together and have it ready to serve in less than 15 minutes.
- Grab a cutting board, and using a sharp knife, carefully slice each filet mignon steak horizontally.
**Here’s a HELPFUL TIP: You can place the steaks in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes, then slice them horizontally.

2. Next, season each filet mignon with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.
3. Place some flour (or GF, or cornstarch) on a small plate, and flour each steak on both sides, lightly patting each side.

4. Place your 9-inch or 10-inch skillet on moderate-low heat. Add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil. Using kitchen tongs, place each floured steak in the butter and oil and sear for 1 minute. Then flip and sear for 1 additional minute.

5. REMOVE the steaks and set them on a nearby plate. Now, make the quick lemon sauce.
6. Make the Lemon Sauce: Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Next, add the 1/4 cup of broth and toss in the capers. Bring to a low boil and stir. Add the steaks back to the skillet, and squeeze 1/2 lemon over them. Simmer the steaks for 2 minutes. Top with fresh parsley and a few more capers and serve.

7. Transfer the steaks to a serving platter, and pour all the lemon sauce on top.
