What is Shavuot?

Shavuot is a major Jewish holiday celebrated exactly seven weeks (49 days) after Passover. While Passover marks physical liberation from slavery in Egypt, Shavuot marks the moment the Israelites received the Ten Commandments, establishing a covenant with God. The Torah is the spiritual sweetness and nourishment of the soul.

This week, we’re celebrating the Jewish holiday of Shavuot by featuring a variety of delicious dairy recipes for our friends around the globe. The tradition is eating dairy products like cheesecake, quiches, and creamy pastas. Dairy symbolizes the sweetness and spiritual nourishment that the Torah is to the soul.

Shavuot (the Festival of Weeks) starts tomorrow, Thursday May 21, 2026 and ends at nightfall on Saturday, May 26. So take a look and enjoy some delicious ideas and recipes!

Delicious Dairy Recipes for Shavuot!

Spinach and Kale Quiche ~ is loaded with spinach, kale, and Parmesan cheese, topped with shredded mozzarella, and baked in a pie crust until golden brown.  Savory and delicious, the flavors of spinach and Parmesan cheese are wonderful in this quiche.

Lemon Ricotta Pasta (Under 30 Minutes!) ~ is tossed with creamy ricotta cheese, lemon zest and juice, fresh basil and mint, garlic, and olive oil. The flavors are bright, fresh and creamy delicious! It’s satisfying; this dish is perfect for a quick and easy meal as the weather warms up.

Baked Cheesy Cauliflower Casserole ~ Loaded with cauliflower! The cheese sauce is very flavorful, and, combined with tender cauliflower, it is SO delicious that we could have eaten the entire dish.

Tuscan Tortellini Soup ~ Swiss Chard and cheese-filled tortellini are the star ingredients in this light and delicious Tuscan Tortellini Soup. Soups are great all year long, and we prefer to have a bowl of soup, especially when we’re in the mood for a simple meal. Best of all, dinner can be ready in about 30 minutes.
