Classic Marinara Sauce

This time of year is when fresh basil comes into season. And, there’s nothing more delicious and flavorful than a fresh pot of tomato sauce, our favorite classic marinara sauce – to be specific- simmering on the stove.

So today, we are delighted to share some of our favorite recipes and new ideas for you to use a jar of our Mom’s Quick Marinara Sauce and incorporate it into your weekly meal plan.

First, Tips on How To Store and Freeze Freshly Made Marinara Sauce?

  • After you make a fresh pot of our mom’s quick marinara sauce, allow it to stay in the pot and on the stove top to cool completely. We sometimes allow it to stay overnight, covered, leaving it on the stovetop to cool completely.
  • Next, wash and air-dry a few mason jars. You can do this while the sauce is simmering.
  • When the marinara sauce is completely cooled down, use a ladle to help you transfer the sauce into your mason jars. Use as many as needed.
  • Seal the jars with the caps tightly. And store them on a shelf in your freezer. They will freeze well, and up to 3 months.
  • Be sure to keep a jar of marinara sauce in your fridge to use for various dishes for dinner. The jar of sauce will last for up to 5 days in the fridge.
