How to Make the Best Homemade Chili?

  1. To make a great homemade chili, it is best to use a large Dutch oven pot or a heavy saucepot.
  2. Then saute all the vegetables for a few minutes: onions, garlic, green and red peppers, and jalapenos.

3. Next, add and cook the ground beef, and cook it until the meat turns brown, breaking up the large chunks with a large wooden spoon.

*A TIP! We prefer to use the best and most high-quality meat, about 90% lean ground beef, to avoid excess unhealthy grease and fat.

4. Pour in the Italian crushed tomatoes, broth, water, spices, and seasonings.

5. Finally, add in the beans and simmer for 30 minutes until the chili thickens. …and voila! ...it’s ready to serve!

Notes and Ingredients for this Easy Beef Chili Recipe…

  • Our chili recipe is made with ground beef, but you can make it with ground turkey, chicken, or pork.
  • You can also use shredded chicken, shredded pork, and even shredded brisket, but you will need more time to cook and shred those meats.
  • The most important thing to a great and delicious chili – is the vegetables! The vegetables are sauteed and simmered with the meat to intensify their flavors. Vegetables like onions, garlic, some bell peppers (one green and one red), and jalapeno peppers give this chile its amazing flavors.
  • The second most important ingredients in a great chili are spices and seasonings. These spices are chili powder, cumin, crushed red pepper flakes, and paprika. And, of course, some salt.
  • ONE more thing, you must taste the chili! Keep in mind, you can increase the spices to suit your taste, from mild to spicy. ENJOY!!

What Beans are best to make the Best Beef Chili?

For the most part, you may use any canned beans for a delicious chili. Always give a good rinse and drain them before tossing them into the pot.

We prefer to use red kidney beans and black beans. These beans cook very well, without dissolving or becoming too mushy. They also provide a great texture and flavor to the chili.
