Ingredients for this Beef Chili Recipe…

  • GROUND BEEF: Choose lean ground beef, but you can make it with ground turkey, chicken, or pork. You can also use shredded chicken, shredded pork, and even shredded brisket, but you will need more time to cook and shred those meats.
  • VEGETABLES: The most important thing to a great and delicious chili – is the vegetables! You will need onions, garlic, some bell peppers (one green and one red), and jalapeno peppers to give this chili its amazing flavors.
  • SPICES: The second most important ingredients in a great chili are spices and seasonings. You will need some chili powder, cumin, crushed red pepper flakes, and paprika. And, of course, some salt.
  • BEANS: Choose red kidney beans and black beans for this recipe.
  • TOMATOES: Choose 1 (28ounce) can of crushed tomatoes for this recipe.
  • BROTH: You will need some water and some vegetable or beef broth.

How to Make the Best Homemade Chili?

There are 4-easy-steps to making our chili:

  1. SAUTE THE VEGETABLES: To make a great homemade chili, it is best to use a large Dutch oven pot or a heavy saucepot. Sautรฉ all the vegetables, onions, garlic, green and red peppers, and jalapenos for a few minutes.
  2. COOK THE MEAT: Next, add and cook the ground beef, and cook it until the meat turns brown, breaking up the large chunks with a large wooden spoon. *QUICK TIP! We prefer to use the best and most high-quality meat, about 90% lean ground beef, to avoid excess unhealthy grease and fat.
  3. ADD THE REMAINING INGREDIENTS: Pour in the Italian crushed tomatoes, broth, water, spices, and seasonings.
  4. LASTLY, ADD THE BEANS: Toss in the beans and simmer for 30 minutes until the chili thickens. …and voila! ...it’s ready to serve!

Serve it with your favorite toppings…

  • sour cream
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • sliced green onions
  • chopped avocado
  • sliced jarred jalapeno peppers
  • and fresh cilantro
  • crushed tortilla chips

Notes, Tips, Questions & Answers…

Our recipe for easy beef chili will make a huge pot and enough to feed a crowd. So here are some ideas and options for chili:

  1. What Are The Best Beans To Make Chili? For the most part, you may use any canned beans for a delicious chili. We prefer to use red kidney beans and black beans. These beans cook very well, without dissolving or becoming too mushy.
  2. Can We Freeze It? Yes, freeze it for another dinner, it will freeze beautifully and for up to one month.
  3. Can We Jazz it Up for Dinner? Yes, you can serve it for dinner over a bowl of cooked rice, quinoa, or couscous.
  4. Turn Leftover Chili into Sloppy Joes, and serve it with toasted Kaiser rolls or buns.
  5. Serve With Hot Dogs: Use your leftover chili to make “chili dogs” and serve them with oven steak fries.
  6. Can We Serve it As An Appetizer? Yes, you can. Serve as a warm “chili dip” with tortilla chips or corn chips on the side.
  7. Turn it into another meal with our Loaded Beef Quesadilla, and an easy dinner later that week.
